Chapter 12 Troubleshooting

Trouble ① Cannot scan bar codes.

② Reading data is not right.

③ Code data cannot be displayed normally on the computer screen.

④ Even after installation of the Active USB-COM port driver, “Connected” is not shown.

①② Barcode surface dirt Wipe the dirt from the barcode and try again.

①② Barcode is blurred Use a barcode clearly printed.

① Barcode surface curvature Read the barcode at the center of the barcode reading

window.

■Reading Method

①② Specular reflection

（When the lights is focused on the

printed surface of the barcode from

directly above, the Scanner may not

read the code due to specular

reflection.）

Change the Scanner reading angle and try again.

① Distance from barcode

（Reading may be unsuccessful if the

barcode is wider than the barcode

reading window.）

Move the Scanner slowly toward or away from the barcode and

try again.

■Setting

Trouble Cause Countermeasure

① The type of the barcode to be scanned

has not been set as a readable code.

Enable the type of the barcode to be scanned as a readable

code.

① The scanned barcode cantains no

check digit, while the “Enable, with a

check digit” parameter is selected.

Select the “Enable, without a check digit” parameter.

① The check digit contained in the

scanned barcode is wrong.

Use a correct barcode.

Direct sunlight, ambient light

Read the barcode away from direct sunlight. Adjust the

brightness of the surrounding light when reading indoors.

USB-COM interface :

Trouble Cause Countermeasure

① It is used except our Active USB-COM

port driver.

① The Active USB-COM port driver is not

installed.

Use our Active USB-COM port driver that is designed for the

USB-COM interface.

③④ The USB interface is set to the USB

keyboard interface.

Switch to the USB-COM interface.

②③ The communications conditions of the

scanner are different from those of the

connected host.

Change the communications conditions of the scanner to

match those of the connected host.
